Interstate News: Smoke Alarm Saves Oakey Home
Mar 19, 2010
A SMOKE alarm has been credited with saving an Oakey home from being burnt to the ground after a deep fat fryer ignited this morning.
The owner was outside when she heard the alarm sound about 10am and came inside to find the fryer on fire and flames lapping the kitchen cupboard and range hood.
She quickly called emergency services and Oakey fire crews arrived at the Hamlyn Road house within minutes to find smoke coming out of the eaves and windows.
