Interstate News: Two bodies found in fatal Vic house fire

Oct 25, 2010

FIVE people, including three small children, are recovering in Yeppoon Hospital from smoke inhalation after a house fire at 10am today on Tanby Road, Yeppoon.

Although minimal structural damage was caused to the house, Yeppoon fire and rescue station officer Wayne Parry said there was severe smoke damage and the family members, including and infant and two children aged three and five, showed signs of smoke inhalation.

Mr Parry said it was believed the fire was caused by the three-year-old child who had been playing with a lighter.

He said the adult male was asleep on the lounge and was woken by the five-year-old, who alerted him to the fire, and the male was able to put it out.
