Feb 17, 2011

A FALCON home is completely gutted after a fire ripped through the two-storey home this morning.

Firefighters arrived at the Corfu Street home at 8.22am but according to witnesses, the home was engulfed within minutes.

Damages are estimated at more than $300,000 and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Department of Health was called to the scene as asbestos from the home may have been burning.

Western Power was also called due to a power line that was down.

The occupant of the rental property was treated for smoke inhalation.

According to witnesses the family was concerned about a pet dog that was in the back yard when the fire broke out.

Other residents on Corfu Street gave the woman and children, who were victims of the fire, support with clothing, food and drink.

The street was closed off as several fire trucks responded to the blaze.
